White Gift
White Gift
The first and most powerful of the Five Gifts — the All-Powerful Gift, encompassing all eight schools of magic.
Overview
The White Gift was the first Gift Demmazon created during the Korvak War and was objectively more powerful than the four Gifts that followed.
Unlike the other four Gifts, White was not given a narrow magical specialization.
Its profile was All-Powerful, encompassing all eight schools of magic.
Demmazon originally offered the White Gift, along with leadership of the Gift-Bearers, to Magerris. Magerris declined and recommended Vestal Stone in his place.
Vestal, the first paladin of Demmazon, became bearer of the White Gift and leader of the five Gift-Bearers, regarded as the best of them.
See The Five Gifts for the complete history and structure of the Gifts.
History
- Wielded by Vestal Stone throughout the Korvak War as leader of the Gift-Bearers.
- Vestal died in the final battle against the Korvak leader. His sacrifice allowed the surviving champions to trap the Korvak leader's spirit and prevent it from continuing to threaten the world.
- The Gift was buried with Vestal, with Vestal's soul remaining associated with it as its protector. This removed the most powerful of the Five Gifts from active mortal use for generations.
- After Correries' armies destroyed Aegea, Magerris recovered the White Gift from Vestal Stone's tomb to fight back.
- During an early clash between Magerris, still mortal and carrying the White Gift, and Correries, Magerris was knocked unconscious.
- Otheron, one of the Heroes of Aegea, picked up the loose Gift and, not understanding its power, unleashed its power at Correries. Correries dodged the blast, which carved a trench several miles long through the mountains. This became known as The Gap of Otheron; in a much later era, the feature became known as Oath's Gap.
- Magerris subsequently absorbed the White Gift directly into himself, destroying the physical artifact and making its power intrinsic to himself.
- The power gained from the White Gift gave Magerris the power necessary to stand against the already-ascended Correries.
- Magerris fought Correries directly over the city of Rictaria. Their battle destroyed the city and created the mountain now known as Godsmount.
Gift Profile
All-Powerful
The White Gift encompasses all eight schools of magic.
Unlike the four specialized Gifts, White does not divide those schools into a two-school profile. This is the fundamental reason it was stronger than the other four Gifts and why Demmazon deliberately reduced and specialized the Gifts created afterward.
