Blue Gift

The Transformation Gift — lost in the final desperate stand of the Korvak War, secretly recovered years later, and ultimately used in the ascension of Milaynee and Ulanthar.

Overview

The Blue Gift was one of the four Gifts Demmazon deliberately weakened relative to the White Gift.

Its profile was Transformation, expressed through the two schools of Conjuration and Transmutation.

Its original bearer during the Korvak War was the elf Salendaius Moonstrike.

Historical accounts frequently describe Blue as a Conjuration Gift alone. This was not its complete nature. The omission of Transmutation was a consequence of Thorn Runehammer's deliberate deception concerning the Green Gift.

Thorn publicly allowed people to believe that Green was the Transmutation Gift. Because of that deception, historical accounts generally treated Blue as Conjuration and Green as Transmutation.

The actual structure was:

• Blue: Conjuration + Transmutation
• Green: Enchantment + Illusion

History

• Wielded by Salendaius Moonstrike during the Korvak War.
• In the war's final stretch, the Korvaks' last undefeated army swept into the valley where Demonmount now stands, catching the city lightly defended after a Korvak feint drew off much of its military.
• Salendaius stood alone before the army, with the hordes she could summon through the Blue Gift beside her.
• The Korvak leader and his allies tore open a rift releasing demons into the world. Salendaius used the Blue Gift's power to counter and seal the rift.
• Salendaius then created the volcano now known as Demonmount around the sealed rift, preventing it from reopening.
• Salendaius was killed in the battle. Her actions nevertheless broke the strength of the Korvak army sufficiently for the city's people to escape.
• The Blue Gift was lost after Salendaius's death. Despite extensive searching, it remained unrecovered for years.
• It was eventually found secretly by Marstalbin, a surviving Korvak disguised as a human. He could not use the Gift because Korvak magic was incompatible with it.
• Marstalbin eventually gave the Blue Gift to Correries as part of his larger manipulation of Correries.
• Correries used the Blue Gift in his experiments involving elves and other races, including his work with Ulanthar.
• The power of the Blue Gift was ultimately divided between Milaynee and Ulanthar, raising both to godhood.

The historical identification of Blue with Conjuration alone is therefore incomplete and reflects Thorn's deception concerning Green.
